PolarBear Plunge Scrapbook
This PolarBear Plunge Scrapbook came out of a whim to see how many of our local citizens would take the Plunge on New Years Day.
This event is one of many across the states, held for the 18th year at Sullivans Island, SC and put on by Dunleavy's Pub. This event was hoping to raise $50,000 for Special Olympics Fund Raiser this year.
PolarBear Plunge Fund Raiser We never know what the weather will be like on New Year's Day - normally in South Carolina at this time of year, we have pretty mild weather for Winter.
This year the temperature was a record high of 72 degrees with the water temperature coming in at 47. Hopefully, with the mild weather and the tremendous crowd, the goal of the $50,000 Special Olympics Fund Raiser was accomplished. I have not heard as of this writing, but last year's event came in at $44,000!For all of these PolarBear Plunge Scrapbook Layouts, I used the same background paper of a beach scene, with the water and small waves coming in.
It's nice when you find a piece of background paper you like, to have enough of it to complete all the layouts you want to use it on. Not a problem here, because for all of these layouts, I used my Digital Scrapbooking system from Heritage Makers.
You can learn more about their system at
Digital Scrapbooking.
You can test drive the Heritage Makers system for free, use it and only pay for your printing. And the great thing I like is, I don't have to install any software on my computer or pay for individual graphics images.
PolarBear Plunge Wedding Party & a Birthday Party For all of these PolarBear Plunge Scrapbook Layouts, I was able to show some of the costumes that were worn during the event, and put captions directly onto the blank spaces of the photos to tell my story. I used black, but I could have chosen any color font to use for Titles, Captions and Text.
Just in the little area around us, there was a Wedding and a Birthday Party. Everyone was having a good time, from adults and little children alike and many were very excited to now be in the Polar Bear Club.
PolarBear Plunge Crazy Costumes & Huge Crowds Another feature I really like about the Digital Scrapbooking is being able to use as many embellishments as I like.
I have used the seagulls on all of these layouts, without concern of running out of them. The are different sizes, and positions, and some are appearing on the background paper, some are appearing on photos, and some are appearing partially on and partially off the photos. These have all been easily and quickly changed to accomplish this with the Digital Scrapbooking system.
The huge crowd must have numbered in the thousands and it was an amazing event to attend. As far as I could see, there were people on the beach.
I can remember the first year when there were just a handful of participants and we all thought they were simply out of them minds to be taking the Polar Bear Plunge. But good things can grow and good causes can benefit, so here's to Good Weather for all New Years Day events and setting Traditions to help others.
